Ingredients
  

Cookie Dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp almond extract optional
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
Decoration
  • Red food coloring
  • Green food coloring
  • Sanding sugar optional

Method
 

  1. In a bowl, beat butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Mix in egg, vanilla, and almond extract.
  3. Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt until a soft dough forms.
  4. Split dough into 3 parts: 1 plain, 1 red, 1 green.
  5. Roll small ropes of each color and gently twist them together into cookie shapes.
  6. Place on a parchment-lined tray and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes, until set but not browned.
  7. Sprinkle with sanding sugar while warm.
