Ingredients

Taco Filling
  • 1 lb ground beef preferably lean
  • 1 oz packet taco seasoning premium brand
  • 1 can diced tomatoes and green chiles 10 oz, undrained
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese preferably aged for richer flavor
  • 8 oz bottle premium Ranch dressing
  • 5 packs 15-count frozen phyllo tart shells

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350ºF.
  2. Cook Beef: In a skillet, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add Seasoning: Stir in the taco seasoning, then add the can of diced tomatoes and green chiles. Mix well and simmer for 5 minutes before removing from heat.
  4. Prepare Mixture: In a separate bowl, mix together the shredded cheddar cheese and Ranch dressing. Then, combine this with the cooked taco meat.
  5. Assemble Tarts: Carefully spoon the taco meat mixture into the frozen phyllo tart shells. If you plan to freeze them for later, now is the time to do so.
  6. Bake: Place the filled tarts in the oven and bake for 8-10 minutes. If baking from frozen, add an extra 2-3 minutes to the bake time to ensure they heat through properly.

Notes

These bites are perfect for any gathering and can be prepared in advance. Simply freeze them before baking, and they’ll be ready when you need them. Adjust the seasoning to taste if you want spicier bites.
