Ingredients

Cheesecake Danish
  • 1 tablespoon butter melted
  • 12 pack Hawaiian sweet rolls King's or similar brand
  • 1/3 cup butter melted
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg omit or reduce if not a fan
  • 8 ounces cream cheese room temperature
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch Baking Dish

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter and spread it evenly in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Place the rolls over the butter. Cut an X into the rolls about ⅔s down but not completely through the bottom of the rolls.
  3. Stir together the ⅓ cup butter, brown sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Pour evenly over the rolls.
  4. Stir the cream cheese until smooth. Stir in the sugar until smooth. Stir in the beaten egg until incorporated.
  5. Fill the rolls with the cream cheese mixture using a piping bag or a zip-top bag with a snipped end.
  6. Bake the rolls, uncovered, at 375°F for 12 to 15 minutes.
  7. Allow the rolls to cool for a couple of minutes before serving. Serve warm.

Notes

The cream cheese mixture is very hot right out of the oven, so allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 4 days.
