Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cans refried beans 16 oz each
  • 1 jar mild picante sauce 16 oz
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded monterey jack cheese
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon cumin

Equipment

  • Crock Pot

Method

  1. Spray the insert of the crock pot with cooking spray OR use a crock pot liner.
  2. Unwrap the cream cheese and place it on a microwave-safe plate. Microwave for 50 seconds.
  3. Add all the ingredients into the crock pot. No need to stir it.
  4. Cover with the lid and cook on LOW heat for 4 hours.
  5. Stir the bean dip several times, about 2-3 times, throughout the cook time to ensure that it's not burning or sticking to the sides.
  6. For a smooth bean dip, blend the picante sauce until smooth before adding it into the crock pot.
  7. Give the bean dip a good stir to make sure it's completely smooth and melted. Serve hot with tortilla chips.

Notes

The crock pot keeps the bean dip warm throughout your event. Stir occasionally to prevent burning. Blending the picante sauce creates a smoother texture, but it's optional.
