Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Fill a cookie press fitted with your favorite Christmas-shaped disc with the dough. Press cookies onto the prepared baking sheets about 1 inch apart.
- Decorate each cookie with colored sugar or sprinkles as desired.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove from oven and allow to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Use room temperature butter for easier creaming and a smoother dough. Chill the dough slightly if it becomes too soft to press properly, ensuring clean shapes.
