  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
Mix-ins
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup red and green holiday sprinkles

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, combine flour and baking soda; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, and vanilla extract until creamy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Gradually beat in the flour mixture.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips and holiday sprinkles.
  7. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 9-11 minutes or until golden brown around the edges.
  9. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Use room temperature butter for a smoother dough and better cookie texture. Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking to prevent excessive spreading.
