Ingredients
  

Cookie Dough
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk ricotta cheese drained
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 3/4 cup mini chocolate chips
Toppings
  • powdered sugar for dusting
  • melted chocolate for drizzle, optional but amazing

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add ricotta, egg, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Gradually add to wet mixture.
  5. Fold in orange zest and mini chocolate chips.
  6. Scoop dough into tablespoon-sized mounds on the baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 12–14 minutes, or until the edges are just turning golden.
  8. Cool completely, then dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with melted chocolate if you’d like.

Notes

These get even better the next day as the flavors deepen. Store them in a tin lined with parchment for that old-school, Nonna-approved touch.
